Dosage Form: Oral tablet

Indications:

OLMETEC is indicated for the treatment of:

• Essential hypertension in adults

• It may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents such as diuretics or calcium channel blockers

• Helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular events by lowering blood pressure

Mechanism of Action:

Olmesartan is a selective angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor antagonist. It blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and a reduction in blood pressure.

Dosage and Administration:

• Usual adult dose: 20 mg once daily

• If further blood pressure reduction is needed, the dose may be increased to 40 mg once daily

• May be taken with or without food

• Dosage adjustments may be needed in patients with renal or hepatic impairment

Warnings and Precautions:

• Contraindicated in pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters

• Not recommended in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment

• Monitor blood pressure, renal function, and electrolyte levels regularly

• Caution in patients with volume depletion, renal artery stenosis, or heart failure

Side Effects:

Common: dizziness, fatigue, headache, back pain
Less common but serious: hypotension, hyperkalemia, renal impairment, angioedema

Storage:

Store at room temperature (below 30°C). Keep in a dry place, away from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
