Description:
NOVONORM contains repaglinide, a meglitinide class oral antidiabetic that stimulates rapid insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells. It helps control blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes, especially to reduce post-meal blood sugar spikes.

Indications:

• Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.

• Can be used alone or with metformin.

Dosage:

• Usually taken before meals, 0.5 to 4 mg daily divided into 2-4 doses.

• Dose adjusted based on blood glucose monitoring.

Contraindications:

• Type 1 diabetes

• Diabetic ketoacidosis

• Hypersensitivity to repaglinide

Warnings:

• Risk of hypoglycemia, especially if meals are missed

• Use with caution in liver impairment

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding

Side Effects:

• Hypoglycemia

• Headache

• Gastrointestinal discomfort
