Description:
NovoNorm 0.5 mg contains repaglinide, an oral antidiabetic medication used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by stimulating the pancreas to release insulin and helps control blood sugar levels, particularly after meals.

Indications:

• Management of type 2 diabetes in adults whose blood sugar levels cannot be adequately controlled by diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone.

• Can be used in combination with metformin when monotherapy with metformin is insufficient.

Dosage and Administration:

• Starting dose: 0.5 mg taken before each main meal.

• Dosage may be adjusted based on the individual's blood glucose response, with possible weekly or biweekly increments.

• Maximum single dose: 4 mg; maximum total daily dose: 16 mg.

• Tablets should be taken 15–30 minutes before meals.

Contraindications:

• Type 1 diabetes mellitus

• Diabetic ketoacidosis

• Severe liver impairment

• Concurrent use with gemfibrozil

• Known hypersensitivity to repaglinide or any component of the formulation

Warnings and Precautions:

• Risk of hypoglycemia; regular monitoring of blood glucose is recommended.

• Use with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.

• Not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age due to insufficient safety data.

• Alcohol may increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
