LOTENSE 10 mg Capsules (30 capsules)
Active Ingredient: Enalapril Maleate 10 mg
Therapeutic Class: Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitor
Dosage Form: Oral capsules
LOTENSE is indicated for the treatment of:
Hypertension (high blood pressure) – to lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack
Heart failure – as adjunctive therapy to improve symptoms and reduce hospitalizations
Asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction – to prevent the progression to overt heart failure
Enalapril is an ACE inhibitor that reduces the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor. This leads to vasodilation, reduced aldosterone secretion, decreased blood pressure, and improved cardiac function.
Hypertension: Typical starting dose is 5–10 mg once daily. Maintenance dose: 10–20 mg/day in one or two doses
Heart failure: Start with 2.5 mg daily, then titrate upward as tolerated
May be taken with or without food
Dosage should be adjusted in patients with renal impairment
Contraindicated in pregnancy, history of angioedema related to ACE inhibitors, and bilateral renal artery stenosis
Monitor serum potassium, renal function, and blood pressure
Use with caution in patients with volume depletion, renal impairment, or diabetes
Risk of angioedema, especially in Black patients
Common: dry cough, dizziness, fatigue, headache, hypotension
Less common but serious: angioedema, renal dysfunction, hyperkalemia
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
