Description:
GLIM 4 mg contains glimepiride, a third-generation sulfonylurea used to manage blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity.
Indications:
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone do not result in adequate glycemic control.
Can be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin or insulin.
Dosage and Administration:
The usual starting dose is 1 mg once daily with breakfast or the first main meal.
Dose may be adjusted based on blood glucose monitoring.
Maximum recommended daily dose is 8 mg.
Tablets should be taken whole with a glass of water, preferably at the same time each day.
Contraindications:
Type 1 diabetes mellitus
Diabetic ketoacidosis
Severe liver or kidney dysfunction
Hypersensitivity to glimepiride or sulfonylureas
Warnings and Precautions:
Risk of hypoglycemia, especially with irregular meals or excessive dosing
Use with caution in elderly and renal-impaired patients
Monitor blood glucose levels regularly
Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding
