Description:
GLIM 4 mg contains glimepiride, a third-generation sulfonylurea used to manage blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity.

Indications:

• Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone do not result in adequate glycemic control.

• Can be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin or insulin.

Dosage and Administration:

• The usual starting dose is 1 mg once daily with breakfast or the first main meal.

• Dose may be adjusted based on blood glucose monitoring.

• Maximum recommended daily dose is 8 mg.

• Tablets should be taken whole with a glass of water, preferably at the same time each day.

Contraindications:

• Type 1 diabetes mellitus

• Diabetic ketoacidosis

• Severe liver or kidney dysfunction

• Hypersensitivity to glimepiride or sulfonylureas

Warnings and Precautions:

• Risk of hypoglycemia, especially with irregular meals or excessive dosing

• Use with caution in elderly and renal-impaired patients

• Monitor blood glucose levels regularly

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding
