Active Ingredients:

• Amlodipine (as besilate) 10 mg – Calcium channel blocker

• Valsartan 160 mg – Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB)

• Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg – Thiazide diuretic

Therapeutic Class:
Antihypertensive combination therapy

Indications:

EXFORGE HCT is indicated for the treatment of:

• Essential hypertension in adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on monotherapy or dual therapy

• Patients who require combination therapy with three antihypertensive agents for optimal blood pressure control

Mechanism of Action:

• Amlodipine relaxes vascular smooth muscle by inhibiting calcium influx, reducing blood pressure

• Valsartan blocks the effects of angiotensin II, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone release

• Hydrochlorothiazide increases sodium and water excretion, reducing blood volume and vascular resistance

Dosage and Administration:

• One tablet daily, taken at the same time each day

• May be taken with or without food

• Dosage should be individualized based on patient response and previous antihypertensive treatment

Warnings and Precautions:

• Contraindicated in pregnancy, severe hepatic or renal impairment, anuria, or hypersensitivity to any component

• Monitor electrolytes, renal function, and blood pressure regularly

• Caution in patients with volume depletion, electrolyte imbalances, or impaired renal function

Side Effects:

Common: dizziness, headache, fatigue, peripheral edema, increased urination
Less common but serious: hypotension, hyperkalemia, renal impairment, electrolyte disturbances
