Description:
XIGDUO XR is a combination antidiabetic medication that contains dapagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, and metformin, a biguanide. It helps control blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus by reducing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys and decreasing hepatic glucose production.

Indications:

• For adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when diet and exercise are insufficient.

• May be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medications.

• Also beneficial in patients with established cardiovascular disease or high cardiovascular risk.

Dosage and Administration:

• Recommended starting dose: one tablet once daily with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

• Dosage may be adjusted based on the patient's clinical condition and renal function.

• Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.

• Maximum daily dose: dapagliflozin 10 mg and metformin 2000 mg.

Contraindications:

• Type 1 diabetes mellitus

• Diabetic ketoacidosis

• Moderate to severe renal impairment

• Hypersensitivity to dapagliflozin, metformin, or any tablet component

Warnings and Precautions:

• Monitor renal function regularly

• Risk of lactic acidosis associated with metformin use

• May increase the risk of genital and urinary tract infections

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding

• Maintain proper hydration
