Donepezil works by increasing the levels of acetylcholine in the brain, a neurotransmitter important for memory and cognition, which is typically low in Alzheimer’s patients.Dosage and Administration: The recommended maintenance dose is 20 mg once daily, usually taken at bedtime. Initiation and dose adjustment should be under the supervision of a physician experienced in Alzheimer's treatment. Dose escalation should be done gradually, with close monitoring for tolerance.Warnings and Precautions: Use with caution in patients with cardiac conduction disorders (e.g., sick sinus syndrome, bradycardia), asthma, gastrointestinal ulcers, or urinary tract obstruction.
