Indications:
TOVAST is indicated for:
Reducing elevated total cholesterol, LDL-C, ApoB, and triglycerides
Increasing HDL-C in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, or familial hypercholesterolemia
Reducing the risk of cardiovascular events (e.g., myocardial infarction, stroke) in patients at high risk, including those with type 2 diabetes or other risk factors
Mechanism of Action:
Atorvastatin works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme responsible for the rate-limiting step in hepatic cholesterol synthesis, leading to reduced cholesterol levels in the blood.
Dosage and Administration:
The usual starting dose is 10–20 mg once daily. The dose can be adjusted based on the patient’s lipid levels and treatment goals, up to a maximum of 80 mg/day. It can be taken at any time of day, with or without food.
Warnings and Precautions:
Use with caution in patients with liver disease or high alcohol intake
Contraindicated in active liver disease, pregnancy, and breastfeeding
Monitor liver function tests and creatine kinase if muscle symptoms occur
Side Effects:
Common side effects include muscle pain, joint pain, headache, nausea, diarrhea, and elevated liver enzymes. Serious but rare side effects include rhabdomyolysis and liver injury.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
