SORTIVA H 50/12.5 mg Tablets (30 tablets)
Active Ingredients:
Losartan Potassium 50 mg (Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker – ARB)
Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg (Thiazide Diuretic)
Therapeutic Class: Antihypertensive combination
Dosage Form: Oral tablet
SORTIVA H is indicated for the treatment of:
Essential hypertension in patients not adequately controlled with monotherapy
May reduce the risk of stroke and other cardiovascular events by effectively lowering blood pressure
Useful in patients requiring both a diuretic and an ARB
Losartan blocks the angiotensin II receptor (AT1), leading to vasodilation, decreased aldosterone secretion, and reduced blood pressure
Hydrochlorothiazide increases sodium and water excretion by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal tubules, thereby reducing plasma volume and blood pressure
Usual adult dose: One tablet once daily
Can be taken with or without food
Not recommended for initial treatment of hypertension; intended for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with either component alone
Contraindicated during pregnancy (especially 2nd and 3rd trimesters)
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment, hepatic dysfunction, or electrolyte imbalance
Monitor blood pressure, serum potassium, renal function, and electrolytes regularly
Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight (due to risk of photosensitivity from hydrochlorothiazide)
Common: dizziness, fatigue, headache, cough, increased urination
Less common: low blood pressure, electrolyte disturbances (e.g. hypokalemia), elevated uric acid or blood glucose, rash
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
