OLMETEC PLUS 20 mg / 12.5 mg Tablets (28 Tablets)
Active Ingredients:

• Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg – Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB)

• Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg – Thiazide Diuretic
  Therapeutic Class: Combination Antihypertensive
  Dosage Form: Oral tablet

Indications:

OLMETEC PLUS is indicated for:

• Treatment of essential hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by olmesartan monotherapy

• May also be used as substitution therapy in patients already receiving olmesartan and hydrochlorothiazide separately

Mechanism of Action:

• Olmesartan blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone-mediated fluid retention, thereby lowering blood pressure

• Hydrochlorothiazide increases sodium and water excretion by inhibiting reabsorption in the distal renal tubules, which helps reduce blood volume and pressure

The combination provides an additive antihypertensive effect through complementary mechanisms.

Dosage and Administration:

• Recommended dose: One tablet once daily

• Can be taken with or without food

• Not intended as initial therapy

• Dose adjustments may be needed based on clinical response

Warnings and Precautions:

• Contraindicated in pregnancy (especially second and third trimesters)

• Use caution in patients with renal impairment, hepatic disease, electrolyte imbalance, or gout

• Monitor renal function, serum potassium, and blood pressure during treatment

Side Effects:

Common: dizziness, fatigue, increased urination, hypotension
Less common: hyperuricemia, electrolyte disturbances (e.g., hypokalemia), nausea, elevated creatinine
