LOTENSE 5 mg Capsules (30 Capsules)
Active Ingredient: Amlodipine Besylate equivalent to Amlodipine 5 mg
Therapeutic Class: Calcium Channel Blocker (Dihydropyridine type)
Dosage Form: Oral capsule

Indications:

LOTENSE is indicated for the treatment of:

• Hypertension (high blood pressure)

• Chronic stable angina and vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal’s angina)

• May be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive or antianginal agents

Mechanism of Action:

Amlodipine is a long-acting calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. This leads to:

• Vasodilation of peripheral arterioles → reduces blood pressure

• Coronary artery dilation → improves oxygen delivery in angina

• Reduction in myocardial oxygen demand

Dosage and Administration:

• Initial dose: 5 mg once daily

• May be increased to 10 mg once daily based on patient response

• Can be taken with or without food, at any time of the day

Warnings and Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment, aortic stenosis, or heart failure with reduced ejection fraction

• May cause hypotension, edema, or dizziness

• Not recommended for use in pediatric patients under 6 years

Side Effects:

Common: peripheral edema, dizziness, fatigue, flushing, palpitations
Less common: nausea, abdominal pain, drowsiness, hypotension

Store below 30°C. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
