Indications: Laxinor is used to treat constipation and hepatic encephalopathy. It helps soften stools and promotes regular bowel movements.
Mechanism of Action: Lactulose is a synthetic sugar that is broken down in the colon into mild acids that draw water into the bowel, softening stools and stimulating peristalsis. It also helps lower blood ammonia levels in patients with liver disease.
Dosage and Administration:
For constipation: Adults usually take 15–30 ml once daily.
For hepatic encephalopathy: Higher doses may be prescribed under medical supervision.
The syrup may be taken with or without food. Dosage may be adjusted based on response.
