Description:
GLIM 3 mg contains glimepiride, an oral antidiabetic agent from the sulfonylurea class. It works by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and increasing the body’s sensitivity to insulin, helping to lower blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Indications:
Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone are insufficient to control blood glucose.
Can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, such as metformin or insulin.
Dosage and Administration:
Starting dose typically 1 mg once daily with breakfast or the first main meal.
Dose may be titrated based on blood glucose monitoring.
Maximum daily dose: 8 mg.
Tablets should be taken whole with a glass of water at the same time each day.
Contraindications:
Type 1 diabetes mellitus
Diabetic ketoacidosis
Severe renal or hepatic impairment
Known hypersensitivity to glimepiride or sulfonylureas
Warnings and Precautions:
Risk of hypoglycemia, especially with missed meals or overdose
Caution in elderly and patients with renal insufficiency
Regular blood glucose monitoring is advised
Not recommended in pregnancy or lactation
