Description:
GLIM 2mg is an oral antidiabetic medication containing glimepiride, a sulfonylurea used to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by stimulating the pancreas to release insulin, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.
Indications:
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin dependent), when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone are not adequate to control blood glucose.
Dosage and Administration:
The usual starting dose is 1 mg daily, which may be gradually increased up to 4-8 mg daily based on glycemic response.
Should be taken with breakfast or the first main meal of the day.
Warnings and Precautions:
Monitor blood glucose regularly.
Not recommended for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Use with caution in elderly patients and those with renal or hepatic impairment.
Risk of hypoglycemia especially when combined with other antidiabetic agents.
