Description:
This medication is a combination of two antidiabetic agents used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. One component enhances insulin secretion and reduces glucagon release. The other component decreases glucose production in the liver and improves the body’s sensitivity to insulin.

Indications:

• For adults with type 2 diabetes who are not adequately controlled with monotherapy.

• May be used in combination with other glucose-lowering medications.

Dosage and Administration:

• Typically taken as one tablet twice daily with meals.

• Dosage should be adjusted based on individual treatment needs and clinical response.

• Maximum recommended daily dose: 100 mg vildagliptin and 2000 mg metformin.

Contraindications:

• Type 1 diabetes

• Diabetic ketoacidosis

• Severe renal or liver impairment
