CARDURA is used for the treatment of:
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) – to relieve urinary symptoms associated with prostate enlargement
Doxazosin selectively blocks alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, leading to:
Vasodilation of blood vessels → lowering blood pressure
Relaxation of smooth muscles in the bladder neck and prostate → improving urine flow in BPH
Initial dose: Usually 1 mg once daily
Maintenance dose: May be increased gradually to 4–8 mg once daily depending on patient response
Should be taken at the same time each day, preferably in the evening
Monitor blood pressure regularly to avoid postural hypotension
Dizziness
Fatigue
Headache
Postural hypotension (drop in blood pressure when standing)
Palpitations
Use caution in patients with hepatic impairment
May cause drowsiness or fainting, especially after the first dose
Not recommended for use in children
