AMOPRESS 5 mg Capsules (28 capsules)
Active Ingredient: Amlodipine Besilate equivalent to 5 mg Amlodipine
Therapeutic Class: Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB)
Dosage Form: Oral capsules

Indications:

AMOPRESS is indicated for the treatment of:

• Hypertension (high blood pressure) – to lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack

• Chronic stable angina

• Vasospastic (Prinzmetal’s) angina

Mechanism of Action:

Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. This leads to vasodilation, decreased peripheral resistance, and reduced blood pressure. In angina, it improves myocardial oxygen delivery.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: Initial dose is 5 mg once daily; may be increased to a maximum of 10 mg daily depending on patient response

• Can be taken with or without food

• No dose adjustment typically needed in elderly or patients with mild hepatic impairment, but caution is advised

Warnings and Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment, heart failure, or aortic stenosis

• May cause peripheral edema, especially at higher doses

• Not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical advice

• Monitor blood pressure regularly

Side Effects:

Common: swelling of ankles/feet (peripheral edema), headache, dizziness, flushing, fatigue
Less common: palpitations, nausea, abdominal pain, rash, hypotension
